Our Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs are designed for scholars who aim to push the boundaries of knowledge, innovate in sustainable farming practices, and lead the scientific community.
KAU offers doctoral research opportunities across its specialized faculties. We encourage interdisciplinary research, particularly in areas affecting the coastal ecosystem, saline-resilient agriculture, and the Blue Economy.
Faculty of Agriculture: Crop Improvement, Climate-Smart Agronomy, Soil Health & Salinity Management, and Molecular Plant Pathology.
Faculty of Veterinary, Animal & Biomedical Sciences: Zoonotic Disease Control, Advanced Animal Nutrition, and Veterinary Pharmacology.
Faculty of Fisheries & Ocean Sciences: Sustainable Aquaculture, Marine Biodiversity, and Estuarine Ecosystem Management.
Faculty of Ag-Engineering & Technology: Precision Agriculture, Renewable Energy in Farming, and Water Resource Engineering.

Admission to the Doctoral program is highly competitive and is based on a candidate’s academic record, research potential, and the availability of a supervisor.
Academic Qualifications:
A Master’s degree (MS/M.Sc.) in a relevant field from a recognized university.
Minimum CGPA of 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) or equivalent in the Master’s program.
A consistently strong academic record from SSC through Graduation.
Research Experience:
Preference is given to candidates with at least one or more publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Professional Background:
For working professionals, a minimum of 2 years of experience in teaching, research, or extension services is typically required.
Supervisor Consent:
Before formal application, candidates are strongly encouraged to contact potential supervisors within their chosen faculty to discuss their research proposal.
The doctoral admission process at KAU is rigorous to ensure a high standard of research output.
Find a Supervisor: Identify a faculty member whose research interests align with yours and secure tentative consent.
Submit Research Proposal: Prepare a detailed 2,000–3,000 word proposal outlining your research objectives, methodology, and expected impact.
Formal Application: Submit the "Doctoral Admission Form" through the Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) portal.
Defense of Proposal: Shortlisted candidates must present and defend their research proposal before the Faculty Doctoral Committee.
Final Approval: Upon recommendation by the CASR and approval by the Academic Council, candidates are officially enrolled.
State-of-the-Art Labs: Access to the KAU Central Laboratory and experimental field stations.
Funding & Fellowships: Information on UGC fellowships, government grants, and university-funded research assistantships is updated annually.
Publication Support: Mentorship in scientific writing and grants to attend international conferences.
